In the match
played at Kobham Oval on the field before losing the toss, Ireland were bowled
out for only 97 runs. This goal was achieved by losing Pakistan one wicket.
In this
innings for Ireland, Joshua Little (24) scored the highest score. Apart from
this, none of the batsmen could stay on the field for much longer. Apart from
Afridi for Pakistan, Hasan Khan took three wickets, while Arshad Iqbal got a
breakthrough.
Chasing the
target, Alam and Rohle Nazir (18) shared a 45-run partnership for Pakistan. On
the same score, the pavilion went out with the dismissal. After this, Alam,
together with Hassan, made a half-century partnership of 53 runs and completed
the target by making 98 runs.
Afridi has
been selected as Player of the Match.Pakistan will now face Sri Lanka in the
tournament on January 19.
